1,580 words; about a 8 minute read

Mission: Atlantic Trouble
Location: Holodeck

Previously on Star Trek Ermiana:

Lurath seemed to smile, nodding his head a bit, as he said softly. "Thank you, Captain. I will." He turned to walk away, but stopped in his tracks. He turned around to face the Captain again. "I... apologize if I came off... demanding, Captain." He went to say something, stopped, then tried to again. "It's just... I've been away from home for a long time." Lurath stopped again. He was struggling with the words. He enjoyed being in Starfleet and on duty, but he still missed home and being around other Klingons. He wasn't sure how often that would happen on a ship like this. "I just want to make a good impression on my old master. You understand... don't you?"

Misaka smiled. "Of course I do. It happens for all of us too, including us Humans. Expecially when we run into old teachers." she explained to him. "I'd be nervous as hell if one of my old Academy professors came aboard this ship."

"Its not just that." Lurath replied as he took a step towards her. "These are still my people. How often are we going to encounter Klingons while performing Starfleet duties?"

"Out here, not often. We're not assigned by the Klingon Empire. But, if I know Klingons. They have a tendacy to pop up in places you least expect," she replied.

Lurath smiled slightly, feeling a bit more at ease. "I can assure you, Captain. The Dahar Master will give you no trouble while on board. He has a Jackal Mastiff named Kajunpak't, which means courage in Klingon, who may seem a bit off putting, but Kaj will not do anything unless the Dahar Master commands her to."

"I shall leave him in your capable hands. Make sure he follows the rules and we'll have no problems." Misaka told him. "And if you're sharing bloodwine, or any other sort of alcohol whilst on board. Remember to be responsible, this is still a Starfleet ship. You never know if you're going to be needed."

"Of course, Captain." Lurath replied firmly. "Only when off duty and never an excessive amount."

"Very well Commander. Now, if you'll excuse me. I have a slightly different ship to steer." She said thumbing to the Olympics' wheelhouse behind her.

Lurath nodded his head and looked around again. He gave the Captain a weak smile and proceeded to walked away, back towards the doors of the holodeck so he could leave this fantasy and return to his duties.

And now the continuation...

The doors to the holodeck opened as Lieutenant Kenneth Hunt passed through the doors. Kenneth was still fairly new on board and was interesting in meeting more of the staff. The first person he spotted was Lurath who making his way towards the door. "Commander Lurath."

"Lieutenant." Lurath replied as he stopped. "Are you participating in this... entertainment?" He asked as he tucked the small PADD under his arm.

"Figured it would be a good way to meet and get to know senior staff," Hunt replied. "Leaving so soon Sir?"

Lurath stood there for a moment before answering the question. "I have a personal matter to attend to." He paused again, unsure of how much to offer, but given the situation he didn't know much anyway. "A Dahar Master, my old Mok'Bara instructor, Rorek is on his way here to speak with about... I don't know what about. To be honest."

"Sounds important. Don't let me hold you up."

"I assure you, Lieutenant." Lurath replied with a smile as he continued to walk. "You are not." He added as he passed by Hunt. He had no intent on being held up or stopped to participate in this fun. The half Klingon was as eager to learn what was so important that Rorek would come all the way to the Ermiana to see him.

The doors opened with the sound of yowling at the computer interface.

"Add Me as a Hueman in the interrractions with Holodeck characterrrs; Do you need Command Autherizzzation?" The Catian Yeoman to the Captain said. "Now confirrrm orders!"

[Confirmed.] The computer voice replied.

"Good." The Catian female moved through the Archway cursing in Catian slang that the Translator could not confirm.

Tifang had done her study, the simple off white dress was very period, down to the hat and lace white perisol that she had open and slowly twirling the rotation of it as moved to the Captain.

"I am so glad you allow me to see this wonderful bridge Captain." Other than the Catian tendency to rool the 'R's' in her speech she had taken a finer English accent as per the timeline. "I am Catherine Lendall, of the Family Lindall of London."

Misaka turned to Tifang. "Nice of you to join us. I assume you'll be travelling first class?" She asked her giving her a smile.

"Father would not have me travel any other way." Tifang replied with a courtesy. "You have a fine ship Captain." Tigang complemented as she look around. "Very... modern in scope for her class."

"Not just modern. But also the biggest ship in the world. That is until her sister ship the Titanic is launched. However I'm sure that she'll give the Lusitania and Mauretania a run for their money." Misaka replied with a smirk.

The tiny redheaded Vissian appeared, dressed in period clothing as a nurse might. Though she was a fully fledged doctor in THIER timeline, in this one, she was a woman, and wouldn't be permitted to practice medicine. How very...quaint were these humans. Still, she approached the captain. "Sir, nurse Drylo," she said. "Where's the...I believe they called it a clinic?" She said. Feeva's knowledge of the old Human ways of practicing medicine wasn't vast. Actually, it was nonexistent and what she had learned so far was gleaned from a FAST read through of the ships' database.

Misaka couldn't help but smile at Drylo. "Welcome aboard." she greeted her. "What do you think?" she asked indicating to the program. "Pretty good don't you think?"

Feeva nodded. "Indeed," she said. "Nearly real!" She exclaimed. "I'll go make sure the clinic room is squared away!" She turned away, the black of her dress and white apron looking like the man from the old Oatmeal boxes she'd seen in old Sol literature. Feeva didn't normally mind wearing dresses, but to be FORCED to do so seemed so...demoralizing.

Misaka chuckled to herself as she turned back to the bridge and walked inside. There she stood at the forward windows looking over the bow, watching as nothing stood in their way but open ocean.

At that moment, Misaka was joined on the bridge by Eila, dressed in the appropriate White Star Line uniform similar to one worn by William McMaster Murdoch, the Olympic's first officer.

"The Mauretania and the Lusitania will be hard to beat." She said, having overheard Misaka's comment on their Cunard competitors. "There's a reason Mauretania has held the Blue Riband for as long as she has."

"A very good point. But I believe we can beat her. This is the biggest most advanced steamer in the world." Misaka replied as she held her hands behind her back. "How is the ship?" she asked.

"What we lack in speed compared to Mauretania, we more than make up for in luxury, Captain." Eila commented. "She is exquisite in every way."

At that moment, a ringing sound emanated from one of the phones on the Olympic's bridge. One of the ships, holographic crew members answered the phone. "Bridge," the crewman answered.

From the Ermiana's bridge, the Vulcan 'Commander thought it odd that the holodeck had responded in such a way, however he assumed that this was the Holodeck's method of interacting with the communication without breaking through the environment. =A= I require a connection to Captain Misaka =A=

"Copy," the crewman answered, before turning towards the Captain, "Captain, incoming communication, requesting to speak to you."

"Thankyou crewman." Misaka said. She turned to Eila. "Please excuse me a moment." She made her way into the wheelhouse and picked up the black phone. Holding it to her ear she spoke into the reciever. "This is the Captain."

=A= Good day, Captain =A= Sonak began, =A= Apologies for disturbing your personal time =A=. Sonak sounded genuine in his apology. He didn't want to disturb anyone's personal time, however not everyone was the Commanding Officer of a Federation starship. To keep this brief, he decided to get straight to the point. =A= Ermiana has now arrived at Zeta Galen, Captain. Our survey will commence in three point two hours =A=.

"Understood Commander. Thankyou for the update. If you need anything from us down here, let us know. Commander Lurath has some 'friends' aboard, but should be able to assist with non-urgent matters," Misaka replied.

As Misaka stepped away to answer the phone, Eila assumed the watch while the Captain was distracted, clasping her hands behind her back and staring out across the endless horizon beyond the Olympic's bow.
