Mission: Cleaning Up

Mikoto stepped off the turbolift on deck twelve. Much of this large deck, central in the saucer section had the vast range of medical facilities on board. It was also the location of the main ICU unit of sickbay as well as the chief medical officer's office, which was her destination. Serving on a Galaxy Class before had its advantages, one of them was knowing where everything was without having to ask for directions.

It didn't take long for Mikoto to walk into the large main ICU unit which was commonly known as the ships 'Main Sickbay'. She looked aorund at the medical staff on duty. "Excuse me, is Doctor Bradford free?" she asked a passing officer.

The medical crewman indicated the CMO's office with a vague gesture with their arm and hand and then hurried off to continue whatever it was that they were already working on.

Mikoto took that as a sign to say that the doctor was in there. So she made her way over and hovered in the open doorway. "Doctor" she stated as she stood there. "I believe that I require my medical checkup, as per regulations for a new starship and crew" she said simply.

"Captain?!" Avram asked, genuinely shocked. "You came in voluntarily? I don't think I've ever experienced that before."

"A good Commander needs to set an example" Mikoto explained simply raising an eyebrow. "There seems to be a common stereotype that Starfleet Captains have to be chased by the Chief Medical Officer for such things. I don't believe that its something that should be present on a Starship. After all, I need to be in good health just as much as everyone else" she explained.

Avram just nodded his agreement. "Well, pick out a bed and take a seat. This shouldn't take long."

The nearest biobed was the most logical choice, as to which Mikoto jumped up on. It always amused her how tall the biobeds were, they always had to be hopped up on by most people. "Ready when you are" she said simply.

Over the next few moments, the Doctor ran through the standard steps of a medical scan.

"I don't see anything of concern on my scans. All readings match up pretty well to your baseline scans. Is there anything specific that you feel I should look at?"

Mikoto shook her head. "Glad to know that I'm in good health. I do like to try and keep up to standards" she said stretching slightly. "Tell me doctor, how has the medical department been handling down here? I don't often get around the ship, so its nice to know"

"Well, I'm really just getting settled in. We're a little short staffed, but that's to be expected. We're still running stress tests on the computer systems, as you would with new equipment."

"I see. Have you tested that new EMH program yet? I can't say that such a program would be useful, but apparently its the latest in medical technology?" Mikoto asked.

"I was unaware we even had one. Which "Mark" is it this time?"

"Mark one as far as I'm aware. The early prototypes weren't exactly successful" she explained. "Apparently its just as good as any doctor but has short time usage"

"I think I'll leave it for now, and pray we're not put in a situation where I have to test it. I've not heard good things... If you know what I mean."

Nodding Mikoto hopped down from the biobed. "Understood doctor. Is there anything else while I'm here?" She asked.

"I think we're good. You probably won't suddenly drop dead on the bridge, and I didn't have to chase you down, so it sounds like a win all around." Avram teased.

"Very well. Thank you doctor" she said giving him a brief smile. She turned on a heel and headed for the sickbay doors.
